Political Funnies

Cheap, but amusing.

Today's hero.

The Legend of the Divine Foreskin.
Not a spoof! Well, not an intentional one.

Why Zombie strippers? 'Cause cops are into that.

Haven't read Maddox's page lately? Go ahead. You know you wanna.

The World of Science

ph33r the Robot Revolution.

4th Annual Historical Science Fair.
::cries:: I want to go to this! But I'm working a convention! I'm so sure it's going to be filled with monkey-piloted robots and monocle-wearing pipe smokers and bustiers and SCIENCE, and I am going to miss it. (sigh) I suppose I shouldn't bitch about having to be at a comic convention instead, but damn.

Gamer Items

Interactive Fiction
The world of text-based games today. And if you're really looking for post-Zork style fun, check out this link as well.

Phantasmagoria_crow's Mario Bros. sprite movie Part IV.
I know, it's not like you've never seen a video game sprite-based movie before, but I am digging this one. I was on the edge of my seat for the Toad Warriors vs. Hammer Brother Army battle. The symphonic score, cribbed from LOTR and some other dramatic sources, really makes it work.

WTF is the ESRB smoking, anyway?
This is a good parental guide to understanding some of the flaws in the ESRB's video game content rating system. I don't quite have the same concerns as the author does (I don't think any kid has grown into a life of pimphood because they played Tony Hawk), but being a part of the industry, this provides a good highlight of some of the glaring contradictions inherent in this near-arbitrary rating system that all games must receive an approval from.

Spendthrift? I totally waste a LOT of money... I'm just selective about what I waste it on. :)

Ken, I would like to put in a request for a picture of a sword, like the wooden one you have. In fact, exactly like that. Can you take a picture of it for me? And if it will inspire you to procure this picture in a more timely manner, I'll tell you it's for the benefit of an alt Kyrie drawering. Schanks shuga.

I'll see what I can do; unfortunately at this point in time OUR scanner has been absconded with, lent to a scurrilous wraith who has refused to reciprocate Trey's efforts to contact him. But I think I can scrounge a digital camera and upload the image onto my Mac; I will let you know.

BUT, if you happen to have time to do image-research on the web, you may want to look up "bokken." That is the sword I have, a wooden kendo training sword. It is more or less meant to simulate the length and heft of a katana, I believe.
