Gaki: writing myself Real

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

... a little breathing room.

First, to steal some of the really beautiful animation links qdot's been posting:

Mr. Citymen are to be watched with sound on, yummy ambient grooves. I'm not sure which is my favorite.

It really is like a Ryden painting in motion. Nubienne once actually took me to Ryden's brother's house in the East Bay somewhere (not sure if they both lived there, or just the one), back when I was barely familiar with his art. We spent a while talking comics. That was a cool day. ^_^

Enough nostalgia, more of the horrible now:

Congressman: Ghraib abuse a 'sex ring,' not torture

See, that's cool, 'cause you know everyone was totally thinking, "Wow, torture." But it was really just wacky military sex escapades all along. Those guys (and girls)!

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner' Review (PS2)
The power of suggestion can be an impressive thing. You know those moments where you're imagining or remembering something someone said, and it turns into a full-blown conversation in your head, and before you know it, you've gotten so caught up that you're making noises, faces, gestures, or even speaking out loud? It seems kind of silly to think that an imagined or remembered conversation could command more of your attention than the real-world things and people around you -- but it happens to me a lot, nonetheless. It probably happens to Raidou Kuzunoha a lot as well. He's the hero of the latest offering from the Shin Megami Tensei series, Devil Summoner. Except that he's not just talking to people from his past, or whom he's seen around the neighborhood. He's talking to spirits, gods, and eidolons of the natural forces in the world around us.(cont.)

I should totally get going to work already.

I think you will really enjoy the anime 'Strange Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya'. My friends are grabbing broadcasts of it straight off showings in Japan. Seek it out, it will suit your current thought streams to a T.

Always on the hunt for obscure anime, and that one sounds cool, so I shall begin hunting it straightaway. Thanks for the heads-up!

After sending Idol to everyone I know...

...I see that Killer Betties is looking for game reviewers. That a private party, or can anyone join?

fuseji would totally play a Citymen-based platformer.

Re: After sending Idol to everyone I know...

Don't be silly. Get on in there, son! The world needs more fuseji, and you're the only one that can give it to 'em! I would say tell them I sent you... I mean, DO that if you're so inclined... but I'm a newb and I really don't have any sense of whether or not they're actually liking what I'm churning out, you know? So use yr best judgement.

I find I enjoy writing for them; it's low-key, you generally have a turnaround time of a week or two to play through what you're reviewing, and I haven't found that my stuff gets edited much at all.

... ya better apply now, 'cause I just talked you up. So now if you don't, the webmaster's going to think that I'm just talking about my imaginary friends again.

Which... is... pretty much totally what everyone expects from me anyway. -_-

Bah, just go apply.
